Silence, Solitude, & Prayer

I recently just got back from spending four days at the beach with my walkabout family!  While we were there it allowed us to just breathe and relax. While being there, we were taught the importance of disciplining ourselves in our everyday life with the Lord. We were able to take the time to be silent before the Lord and to spend time in prayer. Spiritual disciplines are necessary because it is important to grow in your faith. Growing in your faith requires time and effort so that the spirit can move through us and allow God to transform our lives. It wasn’t necessarily easy for me either. I am sure others would agree with me in saying that it takes practice. It’s a daily exercise that we, as Christians, need to be doing. The spiritual disciplines allow us to purge the old life and be transformed by the new.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-20 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

  1. There is no better place to pray than the wilderness where one can find peace and quiet! By the way, what is your aim in maintaining this blog and how did you come up with the name? I’m assuming its in reference to the wilderness mentioned often in the Bible
